equalizent is a qualification and competence centre for Deafness, Hardness of Hearing, Sign Language and Diversity Management. Our bilingual company (Austrian Sign Language and spoken German) offers day and evening courses as well as trainings and seminars. All offers focus on measures to integrate people into the labour market for the first time or on the maintenance of existing workplaces.

equalizent combines social responsibility with economy; therefore it is a professional link between companies, Deaf and hard of hearing clients. To reach a long-term and successful integration, we provide comprehensive basic information and further offers.

equalizent has already started its projects in 2001. Since March 2004, we are an independent company.

We offer a broad range of customized seminars and courses for companies, organisations, groups and individuals: From team development and vocational orientation (courses taught in Austrian Sign Language) to concrete trainings within seminars and courses.
Next to consulting and teaching, we also cooperate with national and international research- and development projects.

How can you benefit?

The seminar rooms of equalizent as well as their equipment are optimally adapted to its target group; both acoustically and visually. The provided course materials also meet the special needs of the course participants.
The essential characteristics are:

•Optimal acoustic and visual design of the seminar rooms
•The equipment of the seminar rooms is adapted to the target group through large screen projectors, special displays, infrared amplifier system etc.
•Curricula and course materials are presented visually
•Further development of several Sign Language elements, which meet technical demands and contents better
•Modern communication through SMS, chat and email as components of trainings

At our company, Austrian Sign Language (ÖGS) and German are equally used as instruction and working languages.
•Our courses are taught in Austrian Sign Language (ÖGS) for our Deaf clients.
•Barrier-free learning is also a main theme in those courses taught in German. The seminar rooms are equipped with induction loop systems for hard of hearing people.
•We use technical aids which support barrier-free communication (for example disappearing screens in the computer-room which make obstacle-free communication possible, special light systems etc.)
•For all courses visual media and specially produced learning materials are used.
•Our trainers themselves are Deaf or hard of hearing or have excellent Sign Language skills. Peer Counselling plays a major role in our trainings.
•When communicating or working together, we don’t only try to be barrier-free, but also to cooperate in a relaxed, respectful and reliable way.
